Roger Gurnani
President – West Area
Prior to his current assignment, Gurnani served as vice president – chief information officer for Verizon Wireless, responsible for the company's Information Systems portfolio development and operation of its data centers and communications facilities. He helped oversee and complete the integration of the domestic wireless operations of Bell Atlantic, Vodafone AirTouch and GTE at the inception of Verizon Wireless in 2000. He had previously served as vice president and chief information officer at Bell Atlantic Mobile.
Gurnani has extensive experience in the telecom industry. He was executive director-broadband systems at Bell Atlantic and received the company's Chairman's recognition award in 1996 for the implementation of the world's first ATM-based Switched Digital Video network in Dover Township, New Jersey. He held a number of positions during his seven years at WilTel (now MCI) before joining Bell Atlantic in 1994. He has also previously worked in the transportation and manufacturing industries.
He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and a master's in systems engineering from Auburn University.
