Jim McGean
President - South Area

Jim McGean is president – South Area for Verizon Wireless, responsible for the company's operations in the Houston/Gulf Coast, Central Texas, Florida, Carolinas/Tennessee, Georgia/Alabama and South Central regions. Prior to this position, McGean served as the president – Georgia/Alabama Region.

McGean's experience in the wireless industry spans 21 years, all with Verizon Wireless (and predecessor companies). Areas of work have included merger integration leadership, product and pricing management, retail distribution, market development and operations. He has held positions of increasing responsibility, including executive director – integration management, director-retail distribution, director-strategic marketing and regional director-marketing and distribution.

McGean received his bachelor's degree in economics from Emory University. He later earned his master's of business administration degree in finance from Georgia State University.

McGean's community initiatives include Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce ­ board member, Georgia Chamber of Commerce ­ board member, Gwinnett Technical College board member, Children’s Healthcare Sports Network board member, and past chairman of the Emory University Board of Visitors.
