Jim Gerace
Vice President - Corporate Communications
Gerace began his wireless communications career with NYNEX Mobile Communications in 1986, where he held a variety of communications positions, including manager of employee communications and director of public relations.
At the completion of the 1995 merger between Bell Atlantic Mobile and NYNEX Mobile, he was named vice president-public relations of the new company. He went on to lead the communications strategy for the merger of Bell Atlantic Mobile and AirTouch that launched the Verizon Wireless brand.
Under his direction, Verizon Wireless distinguished itself as the first wireless company to recycle customers' no-longer-used phones and donate them to victims of domestic violence through the launch of its HopeLine community service program. He actively champions customer friendly initiatives and has directed announcements related to many wireless industry firsts, distinguishing Verizon Wireless as a leader that offers the highest quality products and services while introducing innovative technology solutions.
Gerace serves as vice chairman of the board of directors for The Wireless Foundation, a non-profit organization that oversees programs designed to put wireless technology to work addressing the challenges of society. An advocate for domestic violence prevention, he serves as secretary on the board of Jersey Battered Women’s Service, Inc. Gerace also serves on the board of Inroads of the New York/New Jersey Region, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and placing talented minority youth in business.
Gerace received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
