Anthony A. Lewis

Prior to this appointment, Lewis was president of Verizon Washington, D.C., a position he held since March 2004. In this role, he oversaw all of Verizon's operations in the nation's capital.
Lewis joined Verizon in 1986, then the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia, and held various positions of increasing responsibility, in product line management, sales and regulatory.Lewis currently serves on the boards of Elizabeth City State University, Fight for Children, DC Children First and the Encore Dance School. He has served on various boards including Chairman DC Chamber of Commerce’s Governing Board 2007, the Board of Associates of Gallaudet University, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the DC Workforce Investment Council, the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Federal City Council, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and City First Bank. He is past president and current member of the Developmental Roundtable for Upward Mobility (DRUM) and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
A graduate of the Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business, he furthered his education at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business Leadership Development Program and the Johns Hopkins Leadership Development Program. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University.
