Jerald M. Fountain
President - Carolinas/Tennessee Region
Since the summer of 1998 until the merger that created Verizon Wireless, Fountain served, as vice president of Bell Atlantic Mobile's Southeast Region, which included Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Before his appointment to the Southeast Region, Fountain was regional vice president of Bell Atlantic Mobile's Pittsburgh market, a position he had held since 1992.
Fountain began his career in the telecommunications industry as a sales associate for Motorola in 1978 and later moved to Metromedia Paging Services, where he was the company's Washington, D.C. sales manager. In 1985, he became general sales manager for A Cellular Company, which was purchased by Bell Atlantic in 1986. Fountain served in a number of Bell Atlantic Mobile sales positions in the Washington, D.C. area before being promoted to director of sales and operations in that market.
Fountain earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland in 1978.
